Fabreasy PDFixer 0.9.6 brings Brotli compressed PDF 2.0 to Windows
Public beta creates and processes PDF 2.0 files, while certificate based digital signing is being prepared for the next release

Following the formal publication of the Brotli compression specification for PDF, Yellow Smile ICT Services has released Fabreasy PDFixer 0.9.6, a public beta that makes the new technology available in a practical Windows desktop application.
PDFixer recognizes Brotli compressed PDF 2.0 files and can save documents in the new format. Processing takes place locally, without uploading documents to a cloud service.
In initial tests with two existing PDF documents, PDFixer produced files that were 15.3 and 17.9 percent smaller than the originals. The current Brotli implementation is a beta and has not yet been optimized for processing speed.
“PDF 2.0 should become usable in everyday desktop software, not remain limited to specifications and developer tools,” said Eelco van der Snoek, founder of Yellow Smile ICT Services. “PDFixer makes the new format available in a practical Windows application.”
Fabreasy has also successfully applied a timestamped digital signature to a Brotli compressed PDF 2.0 document in a development version of PDFixer, using a Certum issued certificate. The application identified the signature as intact and warned that editing the document would invalidate it.
Certificate based digital signing is not included in PDFixer 0.9.6. A development version can already sign Brotli compressed PDF 2.0 documents. This functionality is planned for the next release following further validation and interoperability testing.
Fabreasy PDFixer 0.9.6 is available for Windows with a 14 day trial at pdfixer.fabreasy.com. The application can be downloaded as a portable ZIP package or an MSIX installer. At the time of publication, version 0.9.6 has also been submitted to the Microsoft Store for certification.
